What to Pack when Trekking the Six Foot Track?

Knowing what to pack can be the difference between a good trek and a great trek, this post has been written to help you for your next adventure.

I’m no expert, but I’ve done the Six Foot Track once before, which makes me experienced just enough to have an understanding on what I need to take to complete the 44km journey from The Explorers Tree, just on the outskirts of Katoomba, all the way to the spectacular Jenolan Caves.

I want to keep this brief, so without further ado, below is my packing list split into six different categories.

Pack:

  • 55L Backpack
  • Pack liner (optional)

Clothing:

  • Boots
  • Bamboo socks
  • BodyScience compression shorts
  • Microfibre shorts
  • Long-sleeve microfibre shirt
  • Polar fleece
  • Down jacket
  • Waterproof outer
  • Broad-brim hat
  • Birkenstocks
  • Waterproof pants (optional)
  • Tracksuit pants
  • Beanie

Sleeping Equipment:

  • 2-man Hiking Tent
  • Self-inflating mat
  • -5ยบ Sleeping Bag
  • Headlamp

Cooking:

  • Trekking Stove
  • Butane
  • Billy
  • Lighter
  • Betty Crocker spatula
  • Victorinox Pocket Knife
  • Plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork and spoon

Other:

  • Baby wipes
  • 2L waterbottle
  • Garbage bag or poncho
  • Dish scourer
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Sun screen

Food:

  • Scrog – Fruit and nut mix plus MnM’s
  • Danish Salami
  • Mersey Valley cheese
  • Tomato
  • Rye cruskits
  • Museli
  • UHT Milk
  • Tea/Coffee
  • Pasta
  • Tuna
  • Carrot
  • Onion
  • Zuccini
  • Pasta Sauce
